Interferon gamma-1b, a biosynthetic (recombinant DNA origin) form of endogenous human interferon gamma, is a biologic response modifier that has beneficial effects in the management of chronic granulomatous disease and malignant osteopetrosis.

Interferon gamma-1b is used to reduce the frequency and severity of serious infections in patients with chronic granulomatous disease and to delay the time to disease progression in patients with severe, malignant osteopetrosis.
